Trip Introduction:
The Pikey Peak trail is a new hiking route in the lower part of the Khumbu region.
It follows the path from Chyabe moving east to west, giving you a spectacular view of Mount Everest. The trail starts from Jiri, Chaulakharka, and Ngaur, passing through less busy areas, and ends at Pikey hill. From the top of Pikey Peak, you can see many tall mountains that are more than 8,000 meters high, such as Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Manaslu, Annapurna, and other snow-covered peaks. The peak is well-known for its amazing sunrise and sunset views. You can enjoy the breathtaking sight of the mountains beyond the Kathmandu valley and across the Himalayan range.
The Pikey Peak trail trek in Nepal, organized by Himalayan Traverse Adventure Pvt. Ltd., takes you through the Everest and Khumbu regions.
It is one of the lower routes to view Mount Everest, which is 8,848 meters tall. On this exciting journey, you will walk through rhododendron forests, culturally rich villages, mountain glaciers, and beautiful uphill and downhill trails, all surrounded by stunning Himalayan scenery.

December 26th: Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to hotel.
When you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative from Himalayan Traverse Adventure will be there as per your arrival time. We will take you to the hotel, and our staff will assist you until you complete the check-in process. You can rest at the hotel for the night. You will stay in Kathmandu.

December 27th: Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation
After breakfast, we start a guided tour of some of Kathmandu's most important historical and spiritual places, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We'll visit Durbar Square, a historic site, the holy Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the Monkey Temple or Swayambhunath, and the Buddhist stupa called Bouddhanath, which is one of the biggest stupas in the world. At noon, our climbing leader will check our climbing gear, we'll meet the other people joining the trip, and we'll go through the plan for our upcoming adventure. In the evening, there's a welcome dinner arranged by Himalayan Traverse. The meal includes real Nepalese food, giving you a chance to experience the country's delicious cuisine. We'll spend the night in Kathmandu.

December 28th: Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu [2470m/8101ft] & Trek to Salleri [2390m/7839ft] [2-3 hrs Trek]
From Kathmandu, we will take a flight to Phaplu which takes approximately around 35 minutes. After landing at Phaplu we will start our trek to Salleri where we can wander around the busy local market and make visits to fascinating monasteries such as Chewang Monastery. Overnight in Salleri.

December 29th: Day 04: Trek from Salleri to Ghunsa [2250m/7380ft] via Dorpu [5-6 hrs Trek]
Leaving Salleri we will follow the trail that passes through several cultural and traditional villages inhabited by Tamang, Magar and Sherpa tribe communities of Nepal. During the trek we will have good views of surrounding mountains and beautiful landscapes. We will continue our trekking until we arrive at Ghunsa. Overnight in Ghunsa.

December 30th: Day 05: Trek from Ghunsa to Pattale [2840m/9315ft] via Kerung [7-8 hrs Trek]
Today we will trek on a moderate trail that passes through several monasteries and beautifully painted mani walls. At Kerung we will make visit to some of the ancient monasteries and take a look at the Buddhist stupa. Along our trekking route we will get chance to interact with local peoples mainly with Tamang, Magar and Sherpa community backgrounds. We will trek until we arrive at Pattale. Overnight in Pattale.

December 31st: Day 06: Trek from Pattale to Jhapre [2820m/9249ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
From Pattale, our trek will start by exploring the rich variety of flora and fauna found in the area, offering trekkers an awesome experience while journeying. As we proceed, our journey passthrough additional monasteries and Buddhist stupas. After reaching Jhapre, we will spend some time watching the traditional and cultural local performance in Jhapre, which is definitely one of the best ways to understand the culture of the region. Overnight in Jhapre.

(New Year’s Day)January 01st: Day 07: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey peak [4,800m/15,750ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Leaving Jhapre we will follow the trail that heads higher up into the alpine vegatation. Gradually ascending we will trek through monasteries dating bak to hundreds of years, Buddhist stupas and mani walls. We will continue to trek through several yak herding open fields with good views of surrounding environment. Overnight in Jhapre.

January 02nd: Day 08: Trek from Pikey peak to Junbesi [2700m/8856ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
Pikey peak base camp is a great place to see the sunrise in the morning. We will get up early to watch the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayan mountains, including Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, and Mount Everest. After enjoying a peaceful morning, we will start our trek down the trail, which is a simple downhill walk through pretty landscapes and small villages, heading towards Junbesi.

January 03rd: Day 09: Trek from Junbesi to Thuptenchholing [ 3100m/10168ft] and Trek back to Junbesi [3-4 hrs Trek]
From Junbesi, we will start by climbing uphill towards Thuptenchholing. There, we will visit the Thuptenchholing monastery and see the traditional Tibetan medicine treatment. From the top, we can look down and see the entire Junbesi valley. After spending a few hours there, we will return to Junbesi. If requested, we can also watch a Sherpa cultural dance performance in Junbesi.

January 04th: Day 10: Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu [2470m/8101ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
On the final day of our trek, we will begin by following an easy downhill trail. We will take this day to relax and savor every moment of our journey. At Phaplu, we will celebrate the end of our trek with delicious local food and a cultural program by the Sherpa community.

January 05th: Day 11: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu
Today we'll take a beautiful flight from Phaplu back to Kathmandu, which takes around 30 minutes. Once we get to Kathmandu, you can rest at the hotel or explore the Kathmandu valley before going back to where you're staying.Accommodation: Hotel/Lodge

January 06th: Day 12: Final Departure from international airport.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Himalayan Traverse representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

Just got home from our second trek in the Himalayas with Dorjee sherpa. We treked to tengboche for the mani rimdu festival. The festival was incredible and the mountains are magnificent. Dorjee is a great guide and we really enjoyed staying at his Buddha lodge and meeting his wonderful family.
