About Trip:

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.” - John Muir

Rising to an elevation of 7,126 meters, Himlung Himal stands gracefully between the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. Although situated in a remote part of Nepal, it has gained remarkable popularity among climbers and is considered one of the best training peaks for beginners who aspire to tackle 8,000-meter mountains in the future. The mountain was first reportedly climbed in 1983 by a Japanese expedition team, who reached the summit via the eastern ridge from the south. Later, in 1992, another Japanese climber successfully summited the peak through the northwest route.

Located in the Peri Himal range of Manang district within the Gandaki Zone, Himlung Himal remains largely untouched and isolated. Because of its remoteness, modern teahouses and lodges are limited, and camping becomes necessary starting from Meta. The mountain lies just 1.5 kilometers from the Tibetan border, with Manaslu about 28 kilometers to the southeast. From Himlung Himal, you can see Phu Khola flowing along the north and west, a tributary of the Marsyangdi River. The journey combines snow-covered peaks, glaciers, high passes, rocky valleys, dense forests, monasteries (Gompas), and culturally rich villages.

The Himlung Himal route offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural diversity, with influences from Tibetan traditions. Ancient Buddhist customs and monasteries can be seen throughout the region, especially up to Phu Gaun, where cheerful locals warmly greet visitors. Beyond Phu, the landscape becomes more isolated, offering a true sense of wilderness and adventure.

The Himlung Himal Expedition rewards climbers with mesmerizing views of surrounding Himalayan giants such as Nanda Devi, Rajramba, Api Himal, and Kappa Chuli Peak. Despite being in a secluded region, the climb is not highly technical, making it suitable for both new and experienced mountaineers. Generally, three camps are established above the base camp during the ascent.

At Himalayan Traverse Adventure, we have carefully crafted this expedition for adventurers seeking a challenging yet accessible Himalayan climb—a journey that combines stunning mountain scenery, untouched nature, and cultural exploration in one unforgettable experience.
