The Helambu trek is a short hiking trip close to the Kathmandu Valley. Besides the Hyolmo culture of the high mountain people, the area has beautiful waterfalls, green rhododendron and bamboo forests, and snow-covered Himalayas, making it one of the most varied treks near Kathmandu. The amazing Himalayan views at the border with Tibet and the presence of monasteries make a trek to this region an exciting and unforgettable experience. The people living in the highlands of the Langtang region are Nepalese, but they are descendants of Tibetans and still look similar to Tibetans. The Helambu Trek starts from Sundarijal, which is about an hour's drive from Kathmandu. After walking for about an hour, we enter Shivapuri National Park. The trek continues through Chisopani, Kutumsang, Thadepati and Sermathang, and ends in Melamchi Pul Bazar in the Helambu region. During the trek, we walk through thick mountain forests with great views of the Himalayas, and towards the end, we also walk through some lovely rice terraces.
