Trip Introduction: -

Pikey Peak trail is actually the old trekking route in the lower Khumbu region, a combination of Chyabe east to west which offers a dramatic exploration of Everest. The trail follows the less crowded area from Jiri, Chaulakharka, Ngaur till reaching Pikey hill. From the Pikey peak, one can see the various spectacular mountains over 8,000 meters including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Manaslu, Annapurna, and many other snow-covered peaks.  The peak is popular for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views and one can take pleasure in the magnificent sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu valley to the plains along with lots of Himalayan range.

The Pikey peak trail trek in Nepal with Himalayan Traverse Adventure Pvt. Ltd. heads through Everest and Khumbu region trail which is one of the lower places to see Mt. Everest 8,848m. While making your memorable holiday, the adventurous pikey peak trail follows rhododendron forests, highly culture-influenced villages, mountain glaciers, splendid uphill and downhill trails with the combination of Himalayan scenery.

Mount Everest Base Camp Trek, the world's most awe-inspiring and iconic mountain trail trek takes us to the backyard of the world-famous Sherpas, Buddhism, the quaint Namche Bazaar, the Sagarmatha National Park, the highest monastery on the Everest region, the mightiest viewpoint of Kala Patthar, Everest Base Camp itself and close to four of the world's six tallest peaks: Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, and Cho-Oyu.

We can also observe the Sherpa cultural dance performance on request at Junbesi. We Also visit to junbesi secondary school which was opened by sir Edmund Hilary.

Trulshik Rinpoche settled in the region of Khumbhu after fleeing Tibet in 1959. Rinpoche first stayed at monasteries like Thangmé for several years, while hoping to return to his own monastery of Rongpuk Monastery in Tibet. Finally, in 1968, Rinpoche built Thupten Choling near Junbesi on donated land. However, as he continued to believe that he and his followers would soon return to Tibet, the monastery was not built to last, and began to deteriorate in the 1990s. It was therefore rebuilt as a more stable structure, with reconstruction work beginning in 2001. In 1977, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche visited Thupten Chöling and stayed for several months, giving empowerments such as Gyutrul Shyitro, Nyingtik Yabshyi, Damngak Dzö and Compendium of Sadhanas.

December 30th-Day 06: Trek to Pikey Base Camp

Soon after Bhulbhule, the trail splits and you'll turn right to Pikey Peak. You’ll pass some old yak houses and a long mani stone wall. The trail then contours the hillside below Taklung Danda and goes through a beautiful forested trail.

There are many rhododendrons here along a level path (which you can see in bloom if trekking in the spring). As you leave the forest, it’s not far to Pikey Peak base camp, about 2 hours away. From here, it's a short climb to the summit at around 4800 m. Unless you have an unusually clear evening, it’s better to climb to the summit in the morning for sunrise.
