About Trip:

Khopra Ridge Community Trek:

Khopra Ridge is located far from the main routes of the Annapurna region but still offers equally stunning views of the Himalayas, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fang, and Nilgiri. Another highlight of the trip is the sacred Lake Kaire, which is a short walk from Kopra Ridge. Our journey to Kathmandu begins with visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The next day, we fly to Pokhara, visit Syauli Bazaar, and start our trek from there. We leave the main trail behind Tadapani, and over the next few days, we travel a long distance while staying at public tea houses. This 13-day trip is perfect for those who want to experience the beauty of Mount Annapurna while enjoying the luxury of diverse cultures and landscapes.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and a brief discussion on the trip (1,300m/4,264 ft.)

Welcome to Nepal, the Land of Himalayas! Upon your arrival, our representative from Himalayan Traverse will welcome you to the airport and take you to your respective hotel. As it is the first day, we will make you a brief introduction to your trip and your guide/s too. In the evening we will host a welcome dinner offering typical Nepalese cuisine in one of the finest Nepalese Restaurants in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

After breakfast in the morning, we start small sightseeing in Kathmandu in the three famous UNESCO World heritage enlisted sites: “Pashupatinath Temple” the biggest temple for Hindus, “Swayambhunath Stupa” also known as the monkey temple which is one of the famous religious stupas for Buddhists and “Boudhanath Stupa” the biggest Stupa in Nepal located in Kathmandu. After this short visit to religious sites, we make early preparations for our trip and make sure everything is okay. Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.

Day 03: Fly to Pokhara, drive to Syauli Bazaar and trek to Ghandruk: 30 mins flight, 2 hours drive and 3 hours trek

We fly to Pokhara early in the morning. We can enjoy amazing views of the Himalayas from the right side of the airplane. Upon arrival in Pokhara, the beautiful lake city, we are rewarded with magnificent views of the Himalayas, including Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, the five peaks of Annapurna and others. Later, we drive to Syauli Bazaar and begin our trek to Ghandruk. The village is a major recruitment center for the famous Gurkha soldiers and serves as the hub of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, which supports various ecological initiatives. We spend the night in Ghandruk.

Day 04: Ghandruk to Tadapani (2,590m/8,497ft) 3-4 hours

In Ghandruk, we get to enjoy astonishing views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli Mountains. From here we continue upwards through Deurali and into the dense rhododendron forests. The Rhododendron is Nepal’s national flower and when they bloom, the forests turn into gardens of dazzling red flowers when seen from the air or from afar. After trekking over a small pass we reach Tadapani where we get to enjoy excellent views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna and Hiunchuli mountains. There are many Tibetans in the village who sell things for the tourists to take back home as a souvenirs. Overnight in Tadapani.

Day 05: Tadapani to Dobato (3,350m/10,990ft): 4-5 hours

After Tadapani, we leave the main trail and spend the next five days walking in a more remote part of the Annapurna region. Today’s trek lets us enjoy the different plants and animals of the area, as well as the amazing views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South. We follow an easy path and arrive at Dobato, which offers a great view of Annapurna South. We stay overnight in Dobato.

Day 06: Dobato to Upper Chistibung (2,975m/3,198ft) 4-5 hours

After breakfast, we descend through open ground and beautiful forest to reach the pastures of Lower Chistibung. Next, we ascend gradually through a forest before reaching Upper Chistibung which is a temporary herder’s settlement. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the colorful Lophophorus (Danphe), the national bird of Nepal, as well as Himalayan thar on the grassy ridge high above the trail. Overnight in Upper Chistibung.

Day 07: Trek to Khopra Ridge (3,660m/12007): 3-4 hours

We start our day with a steady climb above the tree line, passing through beautiful alpine meadows and pastures on our way to Khopra. As we near Khopra Ridge, the peak of Annapurna South comes into view. Upon arrival, we take a short walk down the ridge to a viewpoint that offers breathtaking sights of the Kali Gandaki River winding far below in the deep valley. From Khopra, we enjoy a magnificent panorama featuring Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna South. Overnight stay is in Khopra.

Day 08: Rest day in Khopra Ridge: Tour of Kaire Lake (4,500m/14,763ft): 10-11 hours

We begin trekking from around six in the morning towards the Kaire Lake from where we attain excellent views of the Fang and surrounding mountains. Considered to be a sacred lake by the Hindus, it is believed that bathing in the lake will help attain Nirvana. As Hinduism and Buddhism are intricately related in Nepal, we can even see a number of Hindu and Buddhist shrines on the lakeside. For those of us who do not want to walk all the way to the lake, a half day walk from Khopra can also be arranged. We have packed lunch today. Overnight in Khopra Ridge.

Day 09: Trek to Swanta Village (2,200m/7,217ft): 5-6 hours

From Khopra Ridge, we start walking down the hillside and keep going on a steep path. As we walk, we see more of Mount Dhaulagiri, which looks really nice behind the stepped fields and old-style homes in the nearby villages. We spend the night in Swanta village.

Day 10: Trek to Ulleri (2,050 m/6,725 ft): 5-6 hours

We walk from Swanta through the village fields to a small river and take a quick look at the local water mill. Then we cross the suspension bridge and go up to the village of Chittre, where we join the main trekking trail at Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, we walk through a rhododendron forest and go down to Ulleri, where we spend the night.

Day 11: Trek to Naya Pul then drive to Pokhara: 5-6 hours trek, 1 hour drive

As we head towards Nayapul, we get to see the beautiful mountain views of western Nepal. Our trek ends in Nayapul, where we take a vehicle to Pokhara, a lovely city known for its lake. Even from the city, we can see amazing sights of the Himalayas, including Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Manaslu (8,156m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), the five peaks of Annapurna and other famous mountains. We check into our hotel, rest for a while, and maybe take a walk around the city to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We spend the night in Pokhara.

Day 12:  Sightseeing in Pokhara then fly to Kathmandu

We leave our hotel early in the morning to visit the Shanti Stupa, a Buddhist Stupa ranked as the second top attraction in Pokhara by TripAdvisor. While there, we enjoy a breathtaking view of the sunrise over the mighty Himalayas. We then continue exploring the city's landmarks, including Davis Falls, Shiva Cave, and the International Mountain Museum (IMM). We also go boating on Phewa Lake, the largest lake in Pokhara, and visit the Bindyabasini Temple located at the lake's center. In the late afternoon, we fly to Kathmandu. To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, we have a farewell dinner in the evening. We spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 13: Final departure

Today marks the conclusion of our wonderful journey in Nepal. A representative from Himalayan Traverse will accompany us to the airport around three hours before our scheduled flight.
