Jomsom Muktinath Trek Highlights:-
Jomsom Muktinath Trek: This thrilling 13-day adventure takes us through the Annapurna and Mustang regions of Nepal. The journey begins in Kathmandu with visits to its UNESCO World Heritage Sites, followed by a flight to Pokhara, the picturesque Lake City, where the trek officially starts. We drive through the stunning Annapurna region into Mustang, passing charming villages, cascading waterfalls, dense forests, and the magnificent Himalayan mountains. The combination of Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage makes this trek truly unforgettable. Along the way, we explore the deep Kali Gandaki Gorge and visit the sacred Muktinath Temple, a revered site for both Hindus and Buddhists. A relaxing dip in the natural hot springs at Tatopani adds to the experience. The trek concludes with a flight from Jomsom back to Pokhara, followed by a drive to Kathmandu.

Day 08: Marpha to Kagbeni (2,810/9,218ft): 4-5 hours
Day 09: Kagbeni to Muktinath (3,710m/12,170ft): 5-6 hours
Day 10: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,715m/8,910ft): 5-6 hours
Day 11: Fly back to Pokhara: 15 minutes flight
Day 12: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)
After landing at the Tribhuwan International Airport, we will be greeted by a representative of Himalayan Traverse who will drop us off at our hotel. We then check-in at the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be hosted by Himalayan Traverse. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu: sightseeing and trek preparation
We explore Kathmandu’s renowned UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Boudhanath Stupa. Durbar Square offers a glimpse into the lives of ancient royals, while Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Swayambhunath, famously known as the Monkey Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, are also highlights of the day. Around noon, we meet our fellow participants and discuss the itinerary for the trip. Overnight stay is in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft) and trek to Tikhendhunga (1,552m/5,090ft): 30 minutes flight, 4-5 hours trek
We take an early morning flight to Pokhara, enjoying breathtaking views of the valleys, hills, and mountains from the plane. After arriving at Pokhara Airport, we drive approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to Naya Pul to begin our trek. The trail leads us along the Bhurundi Khola, through dense forests, and along cliffside paths. We then cross a suspension bridge over the Modi Khola before arriving in Tikhedhunga, where we stay overnight.

Day 04: Tikhedhunda to Ghorepani (2,750m/9,020ft): 6-7 hours
We descend and cross a bridge over the Burundi Khola. From here we begin ascending to Ghorepani. The trail leading up to Ulleri is very steep. We continue ascending further and reach Ghorepani which literally means “horse-water” in Nepali. The village used to be an important campsite for horse traders before it became a trekker’s stop. Day 05: Ghorepani to Tatopani (1,190m/3,904ft): 5-6 hours
We enjoy views of Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains in the morning before starting our trek to Tatopani. We begin with a descent to Sikha Village and continue descending to Ghar Khola Village. After crossing a suspension bridge, our trail climbs up to Tatopani. While here we can enjoy hot spring water and relax. Overnight in Tatopani.

Day 06: Tatopani to Ghasa (2,110m/6,922ft): 5-6 hours
After breakfast, we start our trek, gradually ascending along a trail with the Kali Gandaki River flowing on our right. We cross a suspension bridge over the river and continue our journey. The path takes us past the stunning Rupse Chhahara waterfall. We then climb further to reach Ghasa, a picturesque village nestled in the lower part of the Kali Gandaki Valley, known for its warm, green surroundings and excellent bird-watching opportunities. Overnight stay is in Ghasa.

Day 07: Ghasa to Marpha (2,680m/8,792ft): 4-5hours
We climb a steep forest trail leading to the Lete Khola (stream) and continue onward to reach Lete village. From there, our trek follows a path east of the river, taking us to Larjung Village. Along the way, we pass through scenic apple orchards and vegetable farms. Today’s destination, Marpha, is famous throughout Nepal for its delicious apples. Overnight stay is in Marpha.

Day 08: Marpha to Kagbeni (2,810/9,218ft): 4-5 hours
From Marpha, we follow a trail along the valley, gradually ascending a ridge until we reach Jomsom Village. Continuing north along the Kali Gandaki River—the world’s deepest gorge—we make our way toward Kagbeni. The trail can become windy, so it’s important to walk carefully at a steady pace. We pass through Eklebhatti Village before arriving in Kagbeni, where we are rewarded with stunning views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and Tukuche peaks. Overnight stay is in Kagbeni.

Day 09: Kagbeni to Muktinath (3,710m/12,170ft): 5-6 hours
Our trek begins with a permit check before we head to the upstream banks of the Kali Gandaki River. Along the way, there are numerous scenic spots perfect for taking in the views. From Kagbeni, the trail ascends steeply to reconnect with the main path leading to Khingar at 3,200 meters. We continue through a desert-like landscape until reaching Jarkot Village, followed by a final climb to arrive at Muktinath.

Day 10: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,715m/8,910ft): 5-6 hours
Muktinath is an important place of pilgrimage for Nepalese of both Buddhist and Hindu faiths as these two religions are intricately woven together in Nepal. We visit the main temple in the morning and tour its surrounding. We can admire the water spouts before paying a visit to a Buddhist monastery nearby. From Muktinath, we retrace our steps back to Jomsom, enjoying good views of Mt. Dhaulagiri. Overnight in Jomsom.

Day 11: Fly back to Pokhara: 15 minutes flight
We take an early morning flight to Pokhara. The airplane passes through a gorge between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains making the flight itself an amazing experience. After arriving in Pokhara, the beautiful ‘Lake City’, we can spend the rest of the day in leisure. Boating in the Fewa Lake and strolling in the quaint streets of ‘Lake Side’ is a popular choice among visitors. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 12: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the stunning northern skyline of Pokhara and begin our drive back to Kathmandu. The journey follows riverbanks and offers beautiful views of terraced hills and glimpses of rural Nepalese life. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, there is time to rest or do some souvenir shopping. In the evening, we celebrate the successful completion of our trek with a farewell dinner. Overnight stay is in Kathmandu.

Day 13: Final departure
Today marks the end of our Jomsom–Muktinath Trek in Nepal. A Himalayan Traverse representative will escort us to the airport about three hours before our scheduled flight.

Just got home from our second trek in the Himalayas with Dorjee sherpa. We treked to tengboche for the mani rimdu festival. The festival was incredible and the mountains are magnificent. Dorjee is a great guide and we really enjoyed staying at his Buddha lodge and meeting his wonderful family.
