About Trip:

Valley Ridge trek is an easy trek offering with the distant views of snowy mountains, and an idea of the typical Nepali countryside life and ethnic culture. This Valley Ridge trekking is best suited for those who are traveling with children, families, students who do not have enough time for longer treks into the high mountains. Our Valley Ridge trek starts from just an hour drive from Katmandu City. The trek leads through the hills facing to the north-east of Langtang Himalayan Range with the magnificent views of the Mountain. The whole trail of Valley Ridge trek offers the best mountain views. Nagarkot is the best view point on Valley Ridge trekking route where you will enjoy panoramic Himalayan scenery of Mt. Everest, Mt. Ganesh Himal, Mt. Gaurishanker, Mt. Dorje lakpa, Langtang Himalayan range, Rolwaling Himalayan range. Never miss sunrise and sunset views on these mountains. Agro-old tradition hospitality is an added bonus for the trek. Valley Ridge trek is the Shangri-La route and a novelty destination. The trekking route is surrounded by hills and is the cradle of Nepalese civilization and culture. Nala and Banepa adds the cultural taste to the trek with interesting the Newari settlements rich in architecture. Don’t miss out  the famous temples these places host, Nala Bhagawati Temple and Kanyakumari Temple, Chandeswori temple, etc.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu [1300 m / 4264 feet]

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani [2200m/7216 ft]: 1 hrsdrive and 4-5 hrs walk

Day 04: Trek to Nagarkot [2156m/7072ft]: 5-6 hrs walk

Day 05: Trek to Nala-Banepa [1440m/3427ft] - Bhaktapur sightseeing- Kathmandu: 4-5 hrs walk

Day 06: Departure

Cost Includes:

  • All airport/hotel transfers

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu [1300 m / 4264 feet]

Upon our arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will be greeted by a representative from Himalayan Traverse who will drop us off at our hotel. We may also stroll in the streets of Thamel, a tourist hub in Kathmandu for some souvenir shopping. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Himalayan Traverse where you will be served excellent authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country's food culture.

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Today after breakfast we will start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddha Nath) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. Himalayan Traverse briefs us regarding our trek as well as provides us opportunity to ask any questions we may have regarding our upcoming adventure.

Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani [2200m/7216 ft]: 1 hrsdrive and 4-5 hrs walk

After breakfast, we drive to Sundarijal (2200m) on a private vehicle. Upon reaching Sundarijal we start our day hiking through Mulkharka village passing many forest and trek up to east ridge to Shivapuri forest. From here we can enjoy views of many beautiful mountains and different landscape. We trek down to Chisapani.Overnight in Chisapani.

Day 04: Trek to Nagarkot [2156m/7072ft]: 5-6 hrs walk

Our destination is Nagarkot today. After having breakfast, we set up for today's walk. Today's hike is rather longer with majestic mountain views offered throughout the day. We enjoy the sunset at mountains from the Nagarkot hill station. Nagarkot itself is popular among urban people of Kathmandu as a nearby destination to spend weekends enjoying magnificent & panoramic views of many Himalayan ranges including the 8,848 meters high top of the world Mt. Everest.  We go to bed rather early as we also need to catch tomorrow's mountain sunrise view too. overnight at hotel in Nagarkot.

Day 05: Trek to Nala-Banepa [1440m/3427ft] - Bhaktapur sightseeing- Kathmandu: 4-5 hrs walk

We wake up early to see sunrise through the eastern Himalayan ranges views including Mt. Everest. After breakfast, we start our trek to Banepa. Passing thorugh pine forest and many farmlands, we reach Nala village where we visit some important shrines. Upon reaching Banepa and visitng the temples and after observing some cultural aspects there, we drive to Bhaktapur. We do sightseeing at Bhatapur Durbar square and drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 06: Departure

There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Himalayan Traverse will take you to the airport.

  • Proof of insurance and visa form
  • International air tickets
  • Enough cash which can be exchanged once you reach Kathmandu
  • Credit cards, Bank/ATM/Cash machine cards for withdrawing funds from cash machines (bring a photocopy of your cards), traveler's checks, etc.
