About Trip:

Tsum Valley Trek:-

Explore the mysterious Tibetan Buddhist world hidden in the remote Himalayan valleys of Tsum Valley, one of the most isolated regions in the world. Until recently, it was a restricted area, making it one of the least visited valleys in the Himalayas. A journey to Tsum Valley takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Ganesh Himal, Spring Himal, and Boudha Himal ranges. Once part of Tibet, the valley’s culture, language, art, and religion reflect its Tibetan heritage and offer a unique experience unlike anywhere else in Nepal.

Few tourists have ventured here, making it a mysterious and authentic destination that was historically an important trade route with Tibet. Tsum Valley lies in the northern part of the Manaslu region and remained restricted until 2008. Its remote setting, limited roads, and lack of tourist infrastructure make it less crowded compared to other popular trekking destinations. The local people, called Tsuma, have distinct family traditions, including polyandry, where all brothers in a family are married to one wife, which may seem unusual to outsiders.

The trek begins and ends in Arughat, about a seven-hour drive from Kathmandu. The journey starts along the Buddha Gandaki Valley, offering a mix of dense forests, lush fields, and rolling hills. As we leave the main Manaslu highway and head toward the hidden villages of Tsum, the landscape becomes even more remote and captivating. Along the trail, we pass through mountain forests, cold rivers, and enjoy the warm hospitality of local people. Key stops along the way include Buri Gandaki, Liding, Machhakhola, Jagat, and Pilim, with visits to ancient Gombas such as Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa, and Dephyudonma Gompa, providing an authentic glimpse into the valley’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
